Director¡¯s statement
With , I wanted to pour a bit of my own personality and touch upon themes that I hold dear: diligence, perseverance, proving oneself, and love. Love is a strong theme and I wanted to portray its innocence and quirky nature. In that sense, I wanted the film to feel light-hearted, uplifting and positive. Setting the film in the Ancient Orient reflects my interest in my own culture and of course my love for wuxia movies! Fusing martial arts and romance seemed like the perfect way to bring to life my crazy ideas and energetic personality.
